Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you use our website or contact us about tutoring. We are committed to handling your information carefully and in line with UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Students First is a trading name of STUDENTSFIRSTUK LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13647952), with its registered office at Flat 4, 238 Walmersley Road, Bury, BL9 6NH. STUDENTSFIRSTUK LTD is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

For any privacy question or request, contact us at admin@studentsfirstuk.com.

What we collect

When you fill in one of our forms or speak to us, we collect:

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • The subject and level you're interested in, and which page you enquired from.
  • Your child's first name and school year, which we ask for when we speak to you, so we can match them with the right tutor.
  • Anything else you choose to tell us in a message or on a call.

When you arrive from an online advert, we may also record technical information that tells us the advert worked - such as a Google click identifier and campaign tags in the web address, together with cookie and device information described under Cookies and advertising below.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To arrange your tutoring - to contact you, run your free consultation and trial lesson, and match a tutor. Our basis is taking steps at your request to enter into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
  • To measure our advertising - to understand which adverts lead to bookings. This only happens if you accept advertising cookies. Our basis is your consent.
  • To meet our legal obligations - for example, keeping basic business records.

Where your data is stored, and who sees it

Enquiries are stored in Google Firestore, and a summary of each enquiry is added to a private Google Sheet that we use to follow up with you. Both are hosted by Google under our own business account. Each new enquiry is also emailed to the two directors through Resend, an email delivery service, so we can call you back quickly, and Resend sends you a single email confirming we received it. Only the two company directors of STUDENTSFIRSTUK LTD have access to this information, along with the tutor we match you with (who receives only what they need to teach your child). We never sell your data or share it for anyone else's marketing.

Cookies and advertising

We use a small number of essential cookies that are needed for the site to work. We also use Google's advertising and measurement tools (such as Google Ads) - but only after you accept them using our cookie banner. Until you accept, these advertising and analytics cookies are switched off by default (using Google Consent Mode). If you decline, no advertising cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, which brings the banner back.

If you have accepted advertising cookies and you send us a form, your browser also sends Google a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address with the booking. Google uses it to match the booking to an advert you clicked, so we can see which adverts work. If you decline advertising cookies, it isn't sent.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to provide tutoring and to keep reasonable business records - normally up to three years after your last contact with us - after which we delete or anonymise them. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will, unless we are required to keep it by law.

Children's data

Our service is arranged by parents and guardians, not by children. We only collect a child's first name and school year, and only so we can match them with a suitable tutor. We ask that any details about a child are provided by their parent or guardian.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent for advertising cookies at any time. To exercise any of these, email admin@studentsfirstuk.com and we'll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date.
